Our Process
Consultation
We start by meeting with you – the client – to understand your vision, needs, and budget. We labor in the details that truly matter for your project, ensuring short and long-term success.
Site Analysis
Our team conducts a comprehensive analysis of your site, examining local climate and microclimates, soil, ecology, topography, and existing infrastructure. It might also include environmental impact assessments to identify constraints and opportunities. This stage may include surveys of stakeholders, such as community members ad local organizations.
Concept Design
Through synthesis of our findings, we craft conceptual designs. We present these concepts through analog sketches, digital renders (2D and 3D), narratives with illustrations, and image boards, providing a visual representation of our ideas and allowing for your feedback. Concept design can be an iterative process.
Design Development
We continue refining the concept(s) according to your feedback. We advance and adapt these ideas along with the graphics (and alternative representations) and specifications that support them. These supporting representations typically outline the precise placement of nature-based and constructed elements. In this phase, we will select materials and plants, collaborating with other professionals such as civil engineers, architects, environmental scientists, surveyors , and ecologists.
Construction Documentation
Once the design is finalized and approved, we create detailed construction documents and specifications. These documents and details comprehensively instruct contractors on how to execute the design, install or orient the materials, and shape the landscape.
Regulatory Review
Our detailed designs must always abide by local, state, and/or federal regulations. Such laws can be dense and difficult to interpret. We often lead the entitlement process and submit plans to municipalities for compliance review and approval.
Additionally; we are familiar with USACE, NEPA and CDOT permitting requirements.
Contractor Selection
We assist you in soliciting bids from contractors to execute the project. We help develop bid packages, evaluate the bids and select a contractor based on experience, budget, and quality and comprehension of the project.
Construction
During construction, we regularly visit the site to ensure that the contractor adheres to the defined design plans, materials, and quality standards. After completion, we thoroughly review the site to verify the landscape complies with our plans. In addition to analyzing the functionality of site features and grade changes, we assess plant health and material integrity.
Administration
We can help you with all aspescts of administration for your projects, from submittals to point of contact to coordinating construction. For the most streamlined process possible

Through synthesis of our findings, we craft conceptual designs. We present these concepts through analog sketches, digital renders (2D and 3D), narratives with illustrations, and image boards, providing a visual representation of our ideas and allowing for your feedback. We aim to be inclusive, so we can present these materials in other formats such that they cater to our clients’ needs. Concept design can be an iterative process, as clients provide more feedback, entering the Design Development stage.
